So Maryhill has come around again! This year got very very rowdy and very out of control. I am glad we got to be a part of it. Check out some of the photos from the event. We ran around, camera-happy, and got a bunch of great shots for you to enjoy!

Patrick Switzer went on to win the event and it was a huge win for Rayne longboards as well. Patrick was on a sweet prototype slalom deck and absolutely killed it!

It started raining pretty heavily during the King Of The Hill race between the top 6 qualifiers. Everyone was butt-boarding except for James Kelly who decided to stand up after he started. James ended up winning king of the hill for his second year in a row! Go James! AMERICAN DREAM!

This level of shredding is pretty awesome. I feel like these dudes got their huge slides on lock very early and then decided to do stuff they hadn’t seen anyone do before. I am sure they are influenced by some bigger names out there but I feel like these guys are pretty original. Speaking of original I am pretty sure I saw the same original longboards prototypes in this video that I saw out at maryhill. And by prototypes I mean boards that will be coming out later this year or next year. Everything looked pretty solid! It really seems as if original is stepping their game up to stay current in the world of downhill and freeride, plus they got some shredders on board to back it up!

It is crazy what iPhones did for the wannabe photographers in all of us. They have a fast shutter speed, lots of crazy apps to make your pictures look cool when they really aren’t, and an array of social media platforms for sharing your life. I could never get hooked on twitter, I don’t like reading stuff much but I sure do like looking at stuff. Thats what I love about Instagram and other apps like it. iPhones raised the bar in cell phone photography. Soon after they came out and people realized the power that they had and started hosting gallery showings with all iPhone taken photographs… it blew my mind. Insanely famous photographers like Chase Jarvis were out there promoting this new slightly cheesy art form. Well it is cheesy but I love it! Check out some of our photos!

The reason we are bringing this up is because we just started running an instagram contest! It will run for 4 weeks and each week we will announce a new winner and they will receive a prize pack from us!

So if you need some inspiration give these photos a look over. They don’t pertain to the contest but this is the sort of creativity level we are talking about. Good composition, good colors, nice and crisp photos… the whole shebang! We want action!

Pam Diaz – Making the come up.

Word on the street is that DBS Ambassador team rider, Pam Diaz, who we absolutely love, is now officially on Abec 11′s [GRNTM] or… “Green Team” if you aren’t in the know. I know it is easily confused with the ever so often used “Great Rustic Northern Table Moose,” but in Abec 11′s case it just stands for Green Team. We don’t know all the details yet but we will sure keep you posted so keep on coming back for more news! This year is treating Pam so well and we couldn’t be more proud of her! Well we spilled the beans, lets see what Abec 11 has in store for her!!! Mwuaaahahahahaha!

Rayne and Vicious will be swinging by the shop on Sunday June 10th to hang out and do a product knowledge session. We don’t know who all is coming down but we do know that they are a gnarly bunch of skaters! Those Canadians are keeping it mysterious on us! If we have any luck they will bring some maple syrup down too!

Come on by and ask them any questions you have about their product. While you are here we will have free food, shwag giveaways, the shop will be open (crazy right?! on a SUNDAY?!?!) and it will be an all around good time. Swing on by if you know whats good for you!!!! haha

The DBS/Landyachtz Mavet!

The Mavet in all it’s glory!

After months of grueling work the Mavet has finally arrived! It is the love-child of Daddies Board Shop and Landyachtz. We have been really wanting to dabble in the versatility of the switchblade cause we love the shape! The Mavet has the awesome pockets and shape that the switchblade normally comes with but it has the added grip of a topmount! It is also pretty cool because there are no other topmounted switchblades out there!

For the Mavet we wanted to go with the 36 incher because it was a newer size but also because it is really versatile. Boards are getting smaller and smaller as riders progress so the 36 just made sense. It is small enough to be a fun and nimble little city smasher but can also hold it’s own freeriding and doing downhill. And there is just enough space on the nose and tail to help you get off curbs and such! We think that the Mavet is the bees-knees!

The Mavet is part of a super limited run! We only made 100 so get them while they last! Hopefully this inspires Landyachtz to make more topmount switchblades because we have already found out how freaking fun this board is!!! To everyone who gets a hand on one of these guys… we hope you have as much fun on it as we do!

Marcus Dalton - Switch Heelslide Check

We here at Daddies Board Shop have acquired a new shredder. He is a young fellow from  here in the Pacific Northwest, Marcus Dalton! He has a super unique style, especially to this area, very flowy and relaxed… we like that!

Marcus was rocking a fun a little setup. He is on a sector 9 downhill division “Lacey.” He was riding a short wheelbase on it and I saw him doing manuals and mini ollie’s all day on it. He has 50 degree caliber baseplates with randal hangers and 78a center set sector 9 race formula wheels.

Hands down the best part about skating with Marcus was that he was totally down to adventure and go hit up crazy random spots. I love that. I grew up street skating so I was always on a quest with my friends to find new spots. Most of the time when I shoot longboarding we hit up a hill and pretty much stay there the entire time. Marcus was all about exploring and finding new spots, regardless of how good the pavement was. I want to see more of this in longboarding for sure. There are too many photo shoots and video shoots in super fancy rich neighborhoods. I feel like places like that are good for practicing and learning. It is kind of like how skateparks work, good for learning tricks and dialing them in… but you wouldn’t really film a video part there. Street just looks way more interesting and creative! It works the same with longboarding, the weird alleyways and jenky spots look way sicker!

This spot was pretty funny. We had finished up skating a different spot and we went searching for something new. There was a huge group of people walking down here in a tour or something so we thought we would give it a look-see. After shredding for about 5 minutes we got stopped by a lady who 1.) wanted to know what we were doing and 2.) asked us not to publicize the spot. I just told her we wouldn’t mention any street names… but truthfully… what skaters look at street names when they are out skating? I would have no idea how to get back here!

So there you have it folks, Marcus is a new dude that you will be seeing more and more of. We are super stoked that he is part of the team and we can’t wait to work with him more and more!
