Adventure Time with Pam: NYC – Ohio

I had a great Time in NYC with the homies. I was supposed to get there for the famous Broadway Bomb but there was a mistake with my dates, this didn’t stopped me from having a great time around and skate all day, but most important, shoot photos and document what was happening around me. Thanks DBS for making it happen and to all the homies who got stoked on my visit and made sure i had a good time skateboarding and meeting the city In this first post i share some of the skate we had!

My first day around was with my good friend Keyla Denisse from Puerto Rico, we took the subway to meet up with some friends

The Comet Archetype

Video

So, clearly Comet has been making some big moves over the past little bit but there is a little something we are super excited about more than anything.

Meet the Comet Archetype.

This board is a top mounted (actually, FLUSH cut top mounted, which means the bottom of the board has been routed out a bit so your trucks fit directly into the actual skateboard resulting in a lower ride height and a little added control with weight distribution on your rails while riding), a mid size length at 37″ and a pretty wide width at 9.75″. All these size features are complimented by a rockered platform and concave that are sure to hold your feet right in while your goin’ sideways at maximum speed.

The Comet Archetype is a symetrical board, meaning the exact same from nose to tail. Ride it regular, ride it switch, it doesn’t matter.

As for wheelbase, we’ve got two options to choose from. 26.3″ on the inner mounts will ensure some very responsive turning and the extra inch on the 27.3″ outer mounts will provide that little extra stability when speed is certainly a factor in your riding.

Our boy Liam helped film this video of Anthony Flis and Eric Jensen ripping this board around the super gnar hills of Berkeley, California.

The DB Lunchtray!

DB Lunchtray

DB Lunchtray

When we look at the DB Lunchtray we see progression! We see a platform that truly gives you, the rider, unlimited potential for freeriding! Everything about the board is really pretty fantastic! There is a ton of continuous rocker running from tip to tip, it’s like a teeter-totter! However, unlike most boards with rocker, the Lunchtray has a nice deep and precise flushmounting system that slightly lowers the ride height, but more importantly, allows the degree of your trucks to remain unaffected! Not only is it flushmounted, it is flushmounted AND has optional wheelbases so you can really dial this board into your personal style!

The DB Lunchtray has some mean concave. Above the wheel wells there are hefty flared up areas of 3D concave that will keep your feet locked in no matter how fast you go or how big you slide. Looking at the Lunchtray you will probably notice that there are kicktails but without riding the board you can’t tell how functional they actually are. Believe us, with all of the rocker that this board has, those kicktails are wild and will pop your board up like crazy!

DB Longboards is coming out with some really rad stuff that is going to shape the way for boards of the future. The Lunchtray is just one installment of all their awesome plans to come! If you thought the invention of the wheel was revolutionary… wait til you get your feet on the DB Lunchtray!

The New Orangatang Moronga Longboard Wheel!

Orangatang Moronga

Orangatang Moronga

Guys and girls we are proud to present you with Orangatang’s newest wheel… The Orantatang Moronga! It is a center set freeriding dream-wheel! It has a 35mm contact patch and sits at 72.5mm tall. Like all of Orangatang’s other freeride inspired wheels, the Moronga comes with a stone-ground contact patch and beveled edges so right out of the package they are ready to shred! Their thin profile makes them very easy to kick out into slides. Usually this quality leads to unpredictable wheels that tend to slip out a little too easy but with the Moronga’s center set hub and Orangatang’s patented Euphorethane urethane compound these wheels are surprisingly delightful when getting sideways. Not to mention, since they are center set, you can flip them over as they start to cone, doubling the life of your wheels!

We got to check them out quite a while ago, in their prototype phases and were instantly in love. One of the things that we enjoy the most in regards to the Orangatang Moronga is how light they are. They are really fun on boards like the Tan Tien and Kanthaka. Basically anything with a kicktail, where you can do freestyle tricks, will pair up great with these bad boys. Its never fun to have a heavy wheel weighing your board down! AND once these guys wear down you can throw them on your mini-cruisers and they are extremely fun!

All around we are pretty much in love with these wonderful lumps of urethane and joy. Freeriders rejoice! Your wheel hath cometh!

Afterwork Box Sesh

Pete Benda – Crooked Grind… really crooked.

Ever wonder what it is like to work at Daddies Board Shop? Well, there is more behind the scenes action than anything else but occasionally we get to have ourselves a little fun. One way we do that is by heading out to our parking lot. Pretty much every day after work we all go out and skate. We have boxes, banks, and a bunch of great curbs for slappies.

Jeffrey Acciaioli – FS 5-0

We pretty much build all of our stuff from shipping crates and whatnot that we get from all of our manufacturers. When I say we I mean our warehouse manager Tony B builds it, the dude is crazy. It is pretty cool actually… he takes shipping palettes and turns them into skate features. Kind of baffling really.

Tony B – FS Smith

So working at Daddies does end up being pretty rad. We can’t exactly leave during the day to go hit up hills so we have to make due with what we got around us and I think we do that pretty well. The word “unfortunately” doesn’t really apply when we say we can’t go out and skate hills. Because fortunately we are getting to stoke out kids across the globe by making sure they all their their gear they ordered. It’s rough stuff but it is a labor of love!
